Cleidemar (Cleide) Teani

Introduction

I am a Person Centered Approach (PCA) therapist.  PCA is a humanistic and evidence based way of working that mainly reflects three philosophical interrelated aspects, experiential, phenomenological and existential.

As a PCA psychotherapist, I believe in the wisdom of the human organism and its tendency to move in a forward constructive direction and that this process can be catalyzed by a therapeutic relationship founded on empathy, respect and authenticity.  PCA helps in lowering anxiety, in strengthening the real self and in beating depression by activating the natural organismic tendency to be alive and to be in continuous development.  The work involves different interrelated aspects of the human existence such as feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.

This therapy can help regarding difficulties with concentration, understanding the meaning or importance of something, making decisions, mood /emotions, perceiving or making sense of things, remembering things, communicating verbally or non-verbally and day-to-day functions.

I had the privilegy to deepen the understanding of psychotherapy, phenomenological research in psychology and groups in Brazil with Dr. Vera E. Cury, Dr. Mauro M. Amatuzzi and Dr. John K. Wood, and was mentored in Canada by Dr. Witold Poplawski.
